Derby Day Handle Down Slightly to $340 Million

Although all-sources handle for Derby Week rose to a new record of $487 million–an amount increased by $13 million (3%) from the record set in 2025–handle on Saturday's GI Kentucky Derby Day program was $340 million, down $9 million from the 2025 record of $349 million. All-sources wagering on the Derby itself was $225 million, again down $9 million, from the 2025 record of $234 million.

Wagering on TwinSpires, the official betting partner of the Kentucky Derby, reached a new record of $129 million for Churchill Downs's Derby week races, an amount up $7 million (6%) from the prior record set in 2025. TwinSpires handled a new record of $89 million on the Derby Day program, up 1% compared to last year's record of $88 million, with a Derby handle of $57 million, identical to the record set in 2025.

Churchill Downs reported Kentucky Derby Day attendance at over 150,000.
